I just stumbled upon this terrible case, as I had never heard a thing about the Keddie Murders until watching the movie, "The Strangers.? (How awful is that? There is some speculation that the Writer/Director based the screenplay on the Keddie Murders.)
First off, I think most people need to realize that many murders are never solved in the US (I believe in 2007, the FBI reported it was around 63%; it is actually closer to 50%). The reasons are many, one being the structure of our justice system. Though it is lacking, in many ways, I personally believe it is one of the best in the world. Some of the other reasons murders go unsolved are the motivations behind the persons involved in investigating the crimes, the influence - or lack of- the families of those who were murdered, the resources (or again, lack of) of the agency involved in investigating the murder(s), and the inability of potential witnesses to come forward or to provide voracious information to the investigating agency. These reasons are obviously not inclusive but are some of the leading reasons, as to why murders remain unsolved.
I personally believe the greatest tragedy of all, which is only second to the murders themselves, is the lack of coverage this investigation has received. I am not sure if it is because the people/murders were from a small sleepy mountain town in Northern California, or because the people who were murdered were from broken, working class or poor homes. I am sorry, I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, at all, and maybe I am wrong about their backgrounds. My point is, it shouldn't matter, and these murders should have received the same coverage as the Menendez family murders. I guess that is why I have rather taken an interest because these murders do deserve high-profile coverage, and need to be solved! How about yanking Bill Kurtis' chain? Investigative Reports-didn't he use to host the show "Cold Case"? I am sure if he took an interest in this case, many doors would open. Perhaps a television piece could be produced on the murders, and thus, more coverage might increase the odds of getting them solved.
As for this video - what bothered me the most about this interview was the number of times this Policeman or Investigation agency employee felt the need to SMILE. Jesus, what is with the all smiling? These were brutal, horrid murders! One does NOT smile when answering questions about murder, let alone, brutal senseless murders. Next, I do agree with some of angelsphenix's replies, that this person is simply a subordinate employee and that he is simply giving "canned" answers from the higher ups. Whether he is lying? If he is, he is simply replying to the questions as instructed by another. As for Justin, and the "Sketches": I don't know about the hypnosis story. I have been under hypnosis, and many people are much more vulnerable to questioning under hypnosis (myself included), so the story is plausible. I also know Justin was in the next room, and so were two of the victim's siblings/children, and all three boys were pre-teens. Trauma does weird things to memories but one or all of the three boys had to have heard or seen something.
the road still haunts my dreams, I find myself walking it over an over many time only to come up screaming and empty in my soul. I remember the fountain, no longer there for us to brush past, simply a memory for those who wish not to forget but dedicate to find the truth.
Interview with local official,
Question one: LIE, composites given by Justin under hypnosis??? BULLSHIT
Question two: LIE, told by others that the composites look like some of the suspects??? BULLSHIT
Question three: Tina found in Feather Falls, No other investigation done into how or when her body ended up there, after going through a dam and numerous white water falls???? TRUE, he had no clue nor any care ad to the facts.
Question four: DOJ trying to solve the case. TRUE yet futile since the local enforcement agencies never did give them all the evidence in the first place.
Question five/six: Can't get into specifics about the blood spatter on the wall removed from the crime scene??? ASSHOLE, you're covering for someone who thinks nothing of you except you are simply a subordinate enitity. GROW SOME BALLS AND RAT THE FUCKER OUT!!!
How do we know??? Watch his eyes during the LIE and or BULLSHIT answers, he looks down and/or to the left away from the interviewer...... look it up, one way the combined forces of intelligence know when one is lying or buying time, eluding the truth. BUSTED JACKASS!!!!
